Maintenance And Upkeep Of Electric Food Carts
Oct 11,2025

1. Strictly prohibit power loss during storage
- Do not cut off power while the food truck is in storage.
- Power loss may cause food spoilage, strong odors, and potential health risks.
- Always keep refrigeration systems connected to a stable power source.
CAUTION
- Sudden power shutdown can damage refrigerators, freezers, and electrical components.
- Low or unstable voltage may affect batteries and inverter systems.
- Check power connections regularly during long-term storage.
The battery of the electric food delivery vehicle must not be in a depleted state during storage. Low battery state refers to the electric delivery vehicle not being charged in a timely manner after use. Storing batteries in a depleted state can easily lead to sulfation, with lead sulfate crystals adhering to the electrode plates, blocking the ion channels and causing insufficient charging, resulting in a decrease in battery capacity. The longer the idle time in a low battery state, the more severe the battery damage. Therefore, when the delivery truck is idle, it should be recharged once a month to better maintain the battery in a low state.
2. Regular inspection
- Check electrical systems regularly
Inspect wiring, outlets, lighting, and generators to prevent short circuits and power failures.
- Inspect gas and propane connections
Make sure there are no leaks in gas lines, valves, or tanks to ensure safe daily operation.
- Examine kitchen equipment condition
Regularly check grills, fryers, refrigerators, and freezers for proper performance and temperature control.
- Monitor water system and plumbing
Inspect fresh water tanks, wastewater tanks, pumps, and pipes to avoid blockages or contamination.
- Check ventilation and exhaust systems
Clean and inspect hood systems, fans, and filters to maintain airflow and reduce fire risk.
- Inspect tires and braking system
Ensure tires have proper pressure and tread depth, and confirm brakes are functioning safely.
- Review fire safety equipment
Check fire extinguishers, fire suppression systems, and emergency shut-off switches.
- Maintain exterior and structural parts
Inspect doors, service windows, hinges, and seals to prevent damage and heat loss.
3. Avoid high current discharge
- Avoid using multiple high-power appliances at the same time.
- Do not start heavy equipment simultaneously, such as fryers, coffee machines, or air conditioners.
- High current discharge may cause system overload or power shutdown.
- Sudden high current can reduce battery lifespan and damage electrical components.
- Always turn on large equipment one by one.
- Monitor power usage when operating during peak hours.
- Use shore power whenever high-load equipment is required.
When starting, carrying passengers, or going uphill, electric food delivery vehicles should try to avoid sudden acceleration and the formation of instantaneous high current discharge. High current discharge can easily lead to the formation of lead sulfate crystals, which can damage the physical properties of battery plates.
4. Correctly grasp the charging time
During use, the charging time should be accurately determined based on the actual situation of the delivery vehicle, and the charging frequency should be determined by referring to the usual usage frequency and driving mileage. After being fully charged, the battery should be charged for a short period of time, and the charging time should not be too long, otherwise overcharging will occur, causing the battery to heat up. Overcharging, overdischarging, and undercharging can all shorten the battery life.
5. Prevent exposure to direct sunlight
Electric food delivery vehicles are strictly prohibited from being exposed to sunlight. An environment with excessively high temperature can increase the internal pressure of the battery, causing it to lose water, leading to a decrease in battery activity and accelerating electrode aging.
6. Avoid overheating of the plug during charging
Loose 220V power plug or charger output plug, oxidation of contact surface, and other phenomena can cause the plug to heat up. Prolonged heating time can lead to short circuit or poor contact of the plug, damaging the charger and battery, and causing unnecessary losses to you. So when the above situation is found, the oxide should be removed or the connector should be replaced in a timely manner.
7. Regularly check tire pressure
Maintain tire pressure at the correct level; Tire pressure must be checked every two weeks or at least once a month; Incorrect tire pressure can cause power consumption, short driving range, reduced driving comfort, decreased tire life, and decreased driving safety;
