From Quitting My Job to Owning a Vegan Food Truck in Ohio
Jan 14,2026
I'mAaliyah.I never imagined that quitting my job would eventually lead me to owning a healthy recipes vegan food truck in Ohio.
At the beginning, everything was very simple. I had just resigned from my full-time job and found myself at home with a lot of thoughts and a lot of uncertainty. I didn’t have a clear business plan, and I definitely didn’t have a big budget. I just knew I wanted to do something on my own—something meaningful, flexible, and sustainable. I had always been interested in healthy eating, plant-based meals, and simple recipes that focused on fresh ingredients. Over time, that interest naturally evolved into the idea of running a vegan food truck that could offer nutritious, feel-good food to people on the go.

Around that time, I started noticing more and more female entrepreneurs on social media. Women who were running their own small businesses, selling baked goods, flowers, coffee—and especially food trucks. I saw vegan food trucks, juice trucks, and healthy food concepts popping up in different cities, often run by women who had started with very little but a strong idea. There was something incredibly inspiring about seeing someone build a brand with their own hands, on their own terms. A food truck felt approachable. It didn’t require renting a storefront, and it allowed freedom to move, test locations, and grow slowly.
At first, I assumed the only option was to buy a used food truck. With my limited budget, that felt like the safest choice. I spent weeks browsing listings, talking to sellers, and visiting a few trucks in person. But most of them were either far too expensive or came with hidden problems—old equipment, unclear compliance issues, or layouts that didn’t work for a vegan food truck focused on fresh prep, clean workflow, and organized storage. It felt like I was gambling rather than investing.
Everything changed when I came across an article online—a guide by ORAT about how to buy a food truck from China. I clicked it out of curiosity, not expectation. I had never seriously considered buying a food truck overseas. But as I read, I realized how little I actually knew. The guide explained costs, configurations, certifications, and how legal documents could be prepared for U.S. use. What surprised me most was that a brand-new, fully customized vegan food truck could cost less than many used trucks I had been looking at.
That sent me down a rabbit hole of research. I started looking into Chinese food truck manufacturers and quickly noticed that many buyers in the U.S. were already importing vegan food trucks, coffee trucks, and healthy food trailers from China—with good results. ORAT kept coming up again and again. What really gave me confidence was learning that ORAT had worked with established brands, including collaborations with Heytea in China. That told me they weren’t just a small factory, but a company that understood branding, food concepts, and long-term operation.

When I finally reached out to ORAT, I was nervous. This was my first real step toward entrepreneurship. But the communication was surprisingly smooth. We discussed my budget honestly, my menu ideas, and the concept of a healthy recipes vegan food truck that could operate across Ohio. They helped me think through the exterior design, suggesting clean colors and a modern look that would instantly communicate “healthy,” “plant-based,” and “vegan” to customers.
The customization process was one of my favorite parts. We talked through every detail—the layout, vegan-friendly equipment choices, storage space for fresh produce, power setup, and even future maintenance. I didn’t feel rushed or pushed into upgrades I didn’t need. They explained what was required for U.S. regulations and what documents would be provided to help me register and operate the truck legally in Ohio.
When the truck finally arrived, it felt unreal. Seeing something that had lived in my head now parked in front of me was emotional. Using it day to day has only reinforced that I made the right decision. The hydraulic serving window is one of those features you don’t fully appreciate until you use it—it’s incredibly smooth, effortless, and something I can open and close on my own without strain. For a solo female operator running a vegan food truck, that kind of design detail matters a lot.
Inside, the storage space is far more generous than I expected. Everything has its place, which makes prepping plant-based ingredients calm instead of chaotic. I can restock easily, clean efficiently, and adapt my workflow depending on the event or location. What still amazes me is that I can actually move the trailer myself. As long as I retract the stabilizing legs, I can push it without help. That level of independence is empowering.
Today, my healthy recipes vegan food truck is operating in Ohio, and every time I serve a customer, I’m reminded that this started with a simple decision to try. Choosing ORAT wasn’t just about saving money—it was about trust, transparency, and feeling supported as a first-time female entrepreneur. This truck didn’t just give me a business. It gave me confidence, freedom, and a future built around plant-based food and my own terms.
